It was often expressed wish that th 1 CONC ey might be permitted to depart together, and that wish wa 1 CONC s singularly fulfilled, one dying on the 31 of August, th 1 CONC e other 1st September. His death came as a distinct shock to his many friends an 1 CONC d relatives as he had been sick with pneumonia but had bee 1 CONC n reported as having passed the danger point and was on th 1 CONC e way to recovery. 1 CONT Mr. Ankeny came to this section of Wyoming 36 years ag 1 CONC o and settled in the Slate Creek country and very shortly m 1 CONC oved to the Sibylle Creek vicinity where he had made his ho 1 CONC me ever since. He became one of the leaders in his communit 1 CONC y and shared the hardships with the rest of the cattlemen o 1 CONC f that district. Since the death of his wife, in 1908 he ha 1 CONC s made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Gus Rosentrater, al 1 CONC so in the Sibylle Creek neighborhood. 1 CONT David Elmer Ankeny was born in Salem Ohio, July 20th 1 CONC , 1855 and at the time of his death he was 72 years 11 mont 1 CONC hs, and five days old. While still an infant his parents mo 1 CONC ved to Iowa from Ohio and his father died there when he wa 1 CONC s 6 years of age. His mother then left Iowa and for a perio 1 CONC d of three years they lived in Pennsylvania. They returne 1 CONC d to Iowa where they lived on the home farm until he was ni 1 CONC neteen. In 1874 he came to Fort Collins, Colo and engage 1 CONC d in the cattle business. On March 11th, 1876 he was unite 1 CONC d in marriage to Almira Adams Harris and from this union th 1 CONC ere were six children born, Carol, John Lawrence, Iva Augus 1 CONC ta, Thomas Aubray, Floyd Harris and Roy the youngest who di 1 CONC ed in infancy. In 1892 he left Colorado and came to Wyomin 1 CONC g, where for a short time he lived on Slate Creek, moving f 1 CONC rom there to the Sibylle Creek, twenty-two miles from Wheat 1 CONC land. Believing that money could be made in the stock busines 1 CONC s and not caring longer to remain an employee, he purchase 1 CONC d a few cattle and branched out as a stockman upon his ow 1 CONC n responsibility.
